Does anyone know how to edit the downloads section so that a person can comment on a download without having to rate it also (make rating optional). Using the Enhanced Downloads module and nuke platinum 7.6. thanks for any help.

that does let the comments go through without selecting a rating, like i'm looking for. but the problem is now, by not selecting a rating, it automatically rates it as a "0" and offsets the overall rate (ex. like if it was a 10 it will take it to a 5)... think it inputs the rating into a couple different sql tables, so maybe if someway could get it to not put a "0" for the rating when people only wanted to comment only. but i'm not very good with the sql scripting and the stuff like that. thank you for the help so far!

Thats a little bit beyond the realm of free help. It would take some work to alter all the files needed for that to function that way.

You would have to alter the table and a field to track if they picked a rating then find all the places the rating is used and alter those to reflect the new totals if no rating was selected.

wouldn't it possibly be easier to separate the rating and comments so that the rating part could be left as it is and maybe add a sql table for comments so registered users could just add comments as they want?
