i am not sure if this is html or not. but what i want to know is if you right click on a link say a music link and click save target as and then upload it to your hoomeapge does that mean that the midi is now on your homepage and you are not stealing bandwith from someone else??? some of the music files that i right click on they had a link to listen to them but it didnt take but a few seconds to save them to my desktop and then to load them ot my homepage. i dont want to steal no ones bandwith so i want to make sure that it is only on my bandwith. i hope that this makes sense what i am trying to ask.

thank you in advance for your help.

rhonda

As long as you aren't using the Link from their site/page, you can't steal their bandwidth, so you should be fine.

The two usual issues with music are bandwidth theft, and copyright infringement.

If you download the file and then put it on your own server space, then you're not stealing bandwidth from anyone else. If you can get permission from the file owner to do this, all the better, but in most cases the original owner of the midi file will be unknown. The site you got it from probably snagged it from someone else anyway.

Copyright issues crop up more with recorded material than midi files, which are, more often than not, put up on the web for distribution and use by anyone. So although it's technically possible to get into copyright trouble with midi, it's highly unlikeley.

The time it takes to download really depends on your connection speed. Most of the time midi's aren't going to be very big. Which would make the time for downloads much quicker. However if you were downloading an MP3 it could take 5 minutes up to 45 minutes, its all determined on your connection speed.

P.S. Not sure who you were thanking for the replies, however your welcome if I was able to help.

Steve
