My messenger now announces twice if anyone comes online or goes offline. It also refuses to appear in the tray anymore. Anyone else seen this?

I had to uninstall it completely, it was crashing my system for whatever reason. I tried reinstalling several times with the same outcome. I'm formating the harddrive soon because I have a lot of junk files floating through the registry from the past couple years and it's near impossible to manually remove it all, after which I will reinstall it again and see what happens.
