Google Labs announced the availability of a new Web search for the visually impaired that prioritizes websites by ease of use for those who have trouble seeing. Websites are prioritized through a process by which the HTML markup of a page is examined to favor sites with minimal visual distractions and the ability to render with images turned off. Websites are also favored if they are fully accessible through full keyboard navigation.

Google's goal of creating the website is to give the blind and visually challenged a search site where they can have some assurance the sites listed are accessible. While using a standard search site, many blind and visually impaired individuals are presented with a search result of websites that may or may not be accessible, making the task of finding required information more time consuming. The new Web search can be found at the special Google Labs Accessible Search link.
