Web browsers and e-mail clients typically were internet explorer and outlook express. However due to a new surge in competition microsoft is quickly losing users. Just wondering what browser and e-mail client ppl are using.

I use firefox for browser and incredimail as mail client though am downloading thunderbird in a sec to see what its like.

Firefox and Thunderbird icon_biggrin.gif

Firefox is great, its better than IE and it has customisable extensions and themes.

Thunderbird is quite like Outlook in layout terms, but i like it because it just looks nicer, and is slightly easier and less confusing to use.

IE 6 XPSP2, Netscrape 7.2, Mozilla Firefox 0.9, Opera 7.54 - all for testing.
For surfing, I use Avant Browser 9.02. It's based on IE, which sux, but I really like the tabbed browsing, pop up and ad blockers and a few other neat functions.

I read an article yesterday that said we may be seeing IE 7 alot quicker than anticipated, due to the fact that so many people are unhappy about it's security, and the fact that Microsoft has had to issue no less than 4 CRITICAL updates for IE in the past year. I'm hoping they take the hint from Mozilla and up their standards compliancy while they're at it!

For email, I use Outlook 2002, which is part of Office XP. I also use it to download my email from Hotmail, so I don't have to go through the MSN website.

I usually just use firefox and ie for anything im doing, installed one of my favourite extensions into ff which alwoys me to just click a button and have the same page open in ie, which is great cause im lazy icon_biggrin.gif

One thing i dont like about thunderbird is that u can check your hotmail through it, however i only use mine as a msn e-mail so it wont really affect me icon_smile.gif

IE7 is going to cause microsoft to lose more ppl i thinks because o the whole pop up on embeded codes malarky. After this browser though i read that there going to have to build a new one from scratch (or somewhere near scratch) as there using mozilla 4 techknowledgy, while ff is already on mozilla 5, and i dont think microsoft can use it or something *shrugs*

lol i've got too many emails icon_wink.gif

*Counts Fingers*
2 Hotmail - Main Email Account
Yahoo - spam account
3 Gmail - Starting To use That as main Email Account
ISP Account - Had a lockergnome subscription to this, but otherwise unused.
Hosting Account - Nothing
I could also signup for ICQ mail but that would be slight overkill...

Either way though, MS have lost peoples trust and they probably aren't going to get it back without quite some miracle. I suppose if they hadn't started the whole activation thingymaboby in XP it wouldn't be so bad, but people thought they were already going too far there. Then we hear that IE is completely unsecure and we just think sod it.By the time MS finally released SP2 quite a few had looked for other browsers. Now we've got different browsers to fix the problem, liked them, they're more secure and stuck with them.

open soruce software seems to be the way alot of ppl are going these days, cms's, browsers, programs etc, im just wodnering how long before it spreads to an open source operating system, cause thats when microsoft will really suffer, ie still is the main browser on the internet only because it comes default with windows systems.

Linux loses out because it's just not as user friendly and people think it as a daunting task to convert to Linux. I'd have to agree, as much as i'd love the security of Linux i can't really just stop using windows. lol, the love affairs been going on since Win 3.1 icon_biggrin.gif
