Hi Recoil. Assuming that everything is aligned properly, this may be similar to a problem We've come across that seems inherent with Flash.
We've noticed many times that when placed on a page, a swf will in effect, drop down one pixel from it's intended position.

I'ts a real pain, and we've yet to find a definitive answer to why it happens, other than it being a bug. The solution is pretty simple, make a copy of the part of the movie that should be on top, and put it beneath the existing one. Then move the copy up one pixel so it shows above the original.
We've found this a crude but effective way to recover the lost pixel, and it's preferable to stretching the whole thing.

There is another known quirk in Flash that causes images to distort a little sometimes. The way around that is to break the offending image apart. That usually gets rid of the distortion.

thanks I'll give it a shot.

*edit: I tried putting a copy of just the top bar of the border under the original and nudging it up once; i tried putting it in it's own layer and that didn't work either. I think everything is aligned right. I'm using MX Pro 2004. I made the bg in bryce 5 and saved as jpeg with photoshop then imported to stage. Was this the right way to do this?
