Just like the subject says, how can I get a module or a block that asks people to type in security codes/passwords before they download? I'm planning on uploading some files to my website using default download module, but I'm worried that some people might link to the files and steal my bandwidth. Plus, I don't think that the default download module that comes with phpnuke is good.

Check this link out from cz's knowledge base, it describes how to stop bandwidth theft through your htaccess file [ Register or login to view links on this board.] , some1 else will have to help you with the security code in the downloads section, ive been away from nuke too long he he. In the meantime have you checked your config.php file to see if your graphics check (think thats what its called) is turned on. If your not comfortable editing your config.php id wait till some1 more up to date with nuke verifies this. Good Luck.

EDIT: He He has been a while forgot my bbcodes icon_smile.gif

Hello

Beside osmosis's answer you can also try

disable hotlinking from your host panel,
you can make downloads module for registered users only,
you can also try the fetch i added as attachment ( not sure if it works with your php nuke version so better have a back up before give it a try )

Attached Files
fetch4downloads.zip (6.99 KB, Downloaded: 5234 Time(s))

You can also download the enhanced downloads module from [ Register or login to view links on this board.] , that comes with an admin interface, and that runs a graphics check.

EDIT: Gotta start refreshing pages before i reply lol, the fetch file webshark posted will also do what your looking for icon_wink.gif

Hi

At install.txt it says to put fetch.php to your site root ( depends on your host but generally its public_html) where your put your index.php when you use [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] .If you use similar [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] put it there

As im not able to visit original authors site [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] ( that site auto ban my ip octet icon_mad.gif )so i dont have an idea if he updated his script or what .

Make sure you change the all code he mentioned at install.txt, but dont forget i added this from my archive so its possible that it may not work with new php nuke versions cos somethings changes with every new version.

If you sure you tryed hard and made everything correct i would visit the author's site for look some help otherwise im sorry for couldnt help you much icon_sad.gif
