Im really new to this PHP stuff but really like messing with it. My problem is I dont know how to add a link to a file in my downloads module. This question has probably been asked before but I've been searching for 3 days and cant find any help. I am using PHPNuke 7.9 with the enhanced download module. I am trying to add a link to an mp3 file on my local drive. I put the mp3 file in a folder called downloads in my site folder. I tried to put the link in the download link window as [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] But the filename and link does not show up under the catagory that I put it in. I used IE and accessed the file using my webbrowser so I know the link works, I just cant get it to show up in the downloads area. I have a few questions:

Ive read bits and pieces about uploading..do i have to upload to the downloads area to get it on the site? If so why does it give me the option to add the link in the downloads module and how do I do it? Is there a certain link format or structure to use?

First of all this is not php its php nuke
here we go from the level 1

* create a folder called downloads
* put it in your site root ( where your admin,blocks,images etc folders are)
* put the file u wanna add in it and upload downloads folder to your host
* go to [ Register or login to view links on this board. ]
* see Add a MAIN Category create one (example: songs)
* see/find Add a New Download ;
to Program Name: type for example ; madonna like a virgin
to file link: [ Register or login to view links on this board. ]
to category:chose songs
* can fill options like file size etc.
*can hit now add this URL button now

Thanks Webshark, I really appreciate you replying. Im kind of figuring out now that my problem is bigger then just not knowing how. I have been doing it that way but it doesnt add it to the database. I guess there are alot of folks having this problem. I have completely uninstalled my phpnuke reinstalled it and erased my original nuke db and made a new db with the appropriate nuke7.9 .sql file. Still cannot add a file. It looks like I cant even add a user or right now anything in any module. I wonder if it is a password issue but I checked my config file and everything looks good and my nuke is accessing the db just fine because I can add things like catagories and things.
Any ideas would be great..I really dont know where to go on this. Ive read every topic and article I can find on this site and others.

but its known that version 7.9 is not a stable version ,if you not a lazy sweet smelling perfume can your try to install version 7.6 ( dont curse me )
