Do you have the intro already?

Your server should look for index.html anyway (by default). Then all you would need is a link to [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] on your index.html.

can you tell us what you did?
I would like to have index.php in my root directory as the homepage
so I could submit my site simply as
vitisearch.com

I've been looking for 3 days now to even find out if it's possible or not.
I would hate to have to redo everything using postnuke since I have so much of my phpnuke already set up. With postnuke it's simple to do....

any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Michel White

unless you're setup as a sub-domain, I dont see why your index.php wouldnt be in the root directory. Ive got several sites using nuke and all of the index.php's are in the root directory.
Maybe a little more information about how your directory is setup might help.

I went online and first in the admin set the preference so that
the site url is [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] instead of [ Register or login to view links on this board. ]

and then I ftp'd to the site and moved everything from the /html
folder to the / root folder and it all worked out fine.

For some reason I tried to install it to the root directory originally and it didn't work, but installing it as per the instructions which creates the
/html directory and puts /index.php works and then it's simple to move it to the root via [ Register or login to view links on this board. ]

Thanks for your post because it motivated me to try again.
All's well that ends well.

Glad you got it all worked out. It gets extremely frusterating when simple things dont work out. Sometimes just coming back too it later on is all thats needed.

Its a bit late but better than never for future searchers

easy way of doing this

simply add this code anywhere at your .htaccess

DirectoryIndex index.html

so when someone reach yoursite.com , index.html parsed first instead index.php

But you must also know putting a flash intro at your homepage with a link in it to your second mainpage will stop search engine bots crawl your site content

if you really want to use a flash intro make sure that you link to your second main page with a hyperlink ( text link) under/around that flash intro .
