lol - you all are going to get sooooooo tired of me I just can't tell you!!! I just have so many questions about how to accomplish certain things.....I am so going to pick your brains!

Now that I have stuck my fingers (and toes) into multiple cms and have decided to stick with the original, in your opinion, what would be the best PHP-Nuke version to use to run a site?

A little information about what I am attempting to do:
- This is both a visitor/member site; the visitors will see what I want them to see about our organization and the members will see everything the visitors see plus specific articles, news, downloads and hopefully a forum to discuss certain topics.
- Right now I am in the middle of writing a form to join the organization which I know can be integrated somehow so it emails, posts and prints the way I want it to (ok, I am sure I will be asking about that soon)
- I want to create a table in the database which will have the above form information put in it and then be able to be queried(?) by visitors who are looking for someone by either their name (first or last) or perhaps business name............not asking too much right?

Anyway, before I get too deep into the site design (or at least deeper than I am already), what in your opinion is the best suited, most stable, least amount of patches needed(?) lol version of PHP-Nuke to use and where should I download it from. I already have version7 up (14 down icon_mrgreen.gif ) and running (from [ Register or login to view links on this board.] ) except for the forums. I haven't ventured in that deep.

Thanks for your time at least in reading this post! Thanks in advance for any and all opinions. Sometimes it is just helpful to write out all of your thoughts!

IMHO use Joomla! it's much safer and easier to use then PHP Nuke or any of its forks.

icon_wink.gif mmm. Thanks for the responses. I cannot say that I know much about RavenNuke (is that a fork?). Nor do I know much about Joomla! But, I will check them both out on my server.

I guess I was just thinking phpnuke as I am most familiar with your site here Telli, and this is where I would come when I am "in search of". Same for Miss Tautie. And Kelly and Red.

I think that the other thing on my mind is the amount of time and popularity a piece of software is out. The PC versus MAC - yes, alot of attacks on pc as they are everywhere and pretty much everyone has one and they run on windows. Mac attacks aren't as prevalent but isn't that more or less because not as many are out there....but they are becoming more popular.......Point being that a well established piece of software will evolve and know it's vulnerabilities. User beware. A newer software may think it's safe only because it hasn't been attacked yet. And yet we all know that somebody somewhere who has too much time on his/her hands will get around to it. Eventually.

Just my two cents worth. And thanks again for letting me ramble on! Many thanks for the opinions! icon_biggrin.gif
