Some background for you.

I was over at a dinner party tonight at a friends (Yeah I know go figure, me and a friend......(well Mum let me keep some of them alright.) I noticed that he bought a new system and we oooo'd and ahhhhh'd over a beer. After looking it over I noticed that he used Netscape to surf the net and I figured that while I was playing around with his system I would take a saunter over to my site and check in. As I did my checking I noticed that his name was a bit odd. It had a few extra characters at the start of his name. It went sort of like this - ;Acer Vartan.

Before I decided to slap him silly for playing tricks on my site I had asked him what the heck was this all about since I sent an email off to them explaining that if they saw something odd that they were to get in touch with me so I could sort it out. Of course, this didn't happen he thought it was normal. I have now assured him that this wasn't the case at which time he bluntly asked me when this would be fixed so he could have his name back to normal.

The question part -

So I ask you, "The Pros" if there is a solution to this as it seems local to Netscape users. Is there anything I can do to sort this out?

Thanks Troops and to those that do, Merry Christmas and to those that don't Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Cheers

You say that his name appeared on your site when he logged in like this

;Acer Vartan

Right?

If so check all your & n b s p ; and make sure they have the closing ;
Im not real sure about Netscape it was a topic in here a while ago and i looked up some statistics approximatly 1-2% of users are running netscape 96% are running IE and 2% well there just running.. anywho I choose to cater to IE if netscape users have diffuculties viewing the site then (report it to me please I will see if i can fix it but,)I suggest they do the right thing and get IE.

hmm weird.

I guess that couldn't be typed in as a whole. But it does show up as -
& n b s pAcer Vartan amd not ;Acer Vartan.

Just for fun I started making a few ammendments to the lines for example: I deleted the red type out of the following line -

$content .= "<img src=\"images/CZUser/group-4.gif\" height=\"14\" width=\"17\">"._CZ_WELCOME."& n b s p".$username."<br>\n";

to this:

$content .= "<img src=\"images/CZUser/group-4.gif\" height=\"14\" width=\"17\">"._CZ_WELCOME."".$username."<br>\n";

And it seemed to have fixed it for Netscape as the & n b s p isn't in front of his name anymore and it doesn't seem to have effected the site in any other way for IE users. So for now I think I'll leave it that way until someones computer blows up because of it.

Cheers

It should work if you just add the ; at the end of the & n b s p see this is one without it

 -

one with it

I probably left them out but will fix it now.
