Have you tried setting it too Dont use Smtp server in Forums>admin>configuration?

Just tried that, using my AOL email instead. Same thing happens:

Its really getting on my nerves too, because this is the ONLY thing keeping me from having a fully functional and operational site.

I ruled it out as not working. And I don't know how to fix it.

I just tried registering a new name, and I get this error message at the last page of new user registration (New User Account Created!):

Warning: mail(): Failed to connect to mailserver at "localhost" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set() in c:\program files\http server\apache\htdocs\modules\Your_Account\index.php on line 127


Line 127 is:

            mail($user_email, $subject, $message, "From: $from\nX-Mailer: PHP/" . phpversion());


I was just thinking, if I removed the $user_email from all lines, would that "disable" the email activation?

Also Telli, I just tried installing the EXPMPHP mod, and i come to fnd out i dont have /themes/YOUR_TEMPLATE_NAME/profile_view_body.tpl

What do I do now?

best thing i can think off coz idk anything more is go to ur host tell him to restart ur site.. reinstall all nuke on it

Only problem is... I'm hosting it. Temporarily, of course. I made the site for a friend, and he is going to give me FTP access as soon as i get it all working.

OKAY! Now I dont get that error message anymore. I have downloaded Advanced SMTP Server, and now I have an SMTP server. But users still don't get the email. After a user registers, and my SMTP tries to email them, a Symantec window pops up, and I get an error. Here is a link to a screen shot of the error message.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

P.S. The error message is WRONG, because that email address IS valid.

sorry to bu in here but have you tried to contact symantec's help forum or faq's and see the possible causes for the error message you are getting?
