How do you guys make smooth edges on text in photoshop. When I save my files as either a gif or jpg the edges become rough and look like crap. Any suggestions? I use photoshop 7.0.

Make sure when you apply your text that your anti-aliasing method is set to sharp , crisp or smooth. If you are saving your image as a transparent .gif, you'll want to set the matte to a color as close to your background as possible. You would also set the matte if your image has a drop shadow in it. What this does is give your image a colored "buffer" between the edges of the image and the transparent areas so instead of the color of your image just stopping and then being transparent, the tranisition is gradual.
