Im trying to figure out how to get rid of the posted by before the articles on the news sections is this possible if so how Thanks for any help..

Just delete it from the story_home.html and the story_page.html.

If you look in the themes/YOUR_THEME/ you should have a story_home.html and a story_page.html look in those for the variable $posted and remove it. If you dont have those 2 html pages then it is in the theme.php for the theme.
