Hi,

I have Macromedia Flash MX 2004 and also Fireworks MX. Was wondering what a good first project would be to try and get the basic understanding of creating flash while actually making something. I know there are lots of tutorial sites, yet not sure which thing is the most basic and needed in order to advance onto bigger and better things. Any guidance is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Sigs are always good to play with. For example, your's is begging for the eyes to be animated, and maybe even the flames.

I know what u mean.. I actually made mine with an old borrowed monitor. Didnt realize how nasty it looked till I bought a new one the other day.. Kinda ashamed of my sig now..lol. To give u an idea of how bad it was... the chains didnt look to be glowing so much and there wasnt a black box around the eyes...lol Its amazing what new equipment can do for viewing something icon_smile.gif

I started by using the tutorials that came with it, the ones with the stiletto. It teaches some useful and often used techniques with the motion and fades in and out which i've used a lot. From that try making perhaps a little "splash" page, you may have no intention of using it on your actual site at all, but it lets you choose how you want to make it and on a topic that you know about.

I bought a book on Flash called "FLASH MX 2004 written by Robert Reinhardt
It's a great book, lots of examples and how to...
