I downloaded the rss for web links here. After install I get the following error:

Ok, I got this solved. It seems you cannot have the "&" sign in any of the text that uses the rss feeds.

I found out one of the web links title was "California Department of Fish & Game. When I changed the title of the link to California Department of Fish and Game, the problem went away.

Thanks anyhow.

By the way, a good page to check for errors on the rss feeds is to go to this validator:

Nope. Now I have almost the same error. Just a different line. I tried first with the "&" in the link, then without. Neither work now.

Worst of all, I didn't keep the old file, and I overwrote the original download that worked. Can you let me have the previous. It worked as long as I didn't have the "&" in the links.

EDIT: Ok, I found the changes you made and changed the "&" to "&" I t works again except if I have an "&" sign in the text of the feed.

Its got something to do with the special characters in the title or desription. Can you comment out the descrition line then try it. Let me know what happens.

Ehhhh....one of them is already commented out in the backendlinks.php I have:

$title2 = ereg_replace(" ", "_", $title);
    $description = ereg_replace("\x99", "", $description);
    //$description = FixQuotes(filter_text($description, "nohtml"));
    echo "<item>\n";


I am guessing you mean the other one. I am commenting that one out also. By the way, the "&" sign is in the Title, not the description in my scenario.

Ok, I commented out the other description and still received the same error.

The really wierd thing is if I do a view => source, I see the entire feed as it is supposed to be. Don't you just love little bugs? LOL
