I am kind of a newbie so I don't have much technical knowledge, so if you could consider my rather low understanding of Flash, that'd be great...
I need to create a short animation of a sizzling and bubbling test tube with liquid in it, and another somewhat "calmer" test tube, which is poured into the first one, causing a lot of pouring foam and a cloud of gas. No idea on how to do this.
I would welcome any advice on how to get about doing this...thanks.

That sounds like quite a complex animation to do by hand. My first thought is to use a particle system to emit the bubbles. I'm pretty sure there's one on the Macromedia Exchange that you can download and use.

For the test-tubes, you shoud be able to just use circles rising in a movie clip.

Best advice I can give is play around with various ideas until something starts to look right, it's the best way to learn.

First of all, thanks for the quick reply. But I am a complete and total novice in Flash. I don't understand what you mean by "circles rising" and "movie clip".
I know how to create a movie clip but don't know how to use it and what it can do. Remember I need the fluid in one test tube to pour into the other one.
And also, I've searched for an emitter in the Macromedia Exchange in the Flash and didn't find anything. Is there any other place I can look?

The one I've used is called LevitatedComponents. The rising bubbles would be circles with motion tweens.

My honest opinion is that you're trying to attempt something quite advanced when you've only just started to learn Flash. If you take some time and plough through some tutorals to get a good understanding of the basics, you'll find it much easier to do the fun stuff.

Do you have a link you can give me to download LevitatedComponents? I've searched for hours for a particle system for Flash 5 but can't find anything good.

I got it from the Macromedia Exchange, but it's for FLash MX or MX2004.

I also have Flash Mx 2004, so that's no problem. But I can't find LevitatedComponents on the Macromedia Exchange. I've searched "LevitatedComponents" and there were no results. What keywords should I use?

The search feature there is lousy. Just scroll thrugh the Flash Exchange till you find one.

Okay, I have LevitatedComponents Particle Emitter...know a tutorial? (sorry if I'm nagging, but I did try to play with the features myself and couldn't get what I'm looking for and I can't find a tutorial myself...

)
