Scrolling weblinks & downloads in footer

Hey all

I have been reading some of your posts on having scrolling weblinks & downloads in your theme footer but no matter what i try nothing seems to work and all it seems to show is $showlinks etc. Sorry about posting this again but its driving me insane!

Here is part of the footer code below:

Yes that is exactly what i have done already and still it wont work for me. Any more ideas?

You have $showdownloads in the theme footer but have it defined as $showdl. The show links looks ok do you get an error from it?

I have changed $showdownload to $showdl and still nothing and no errors are reported at all. I really dont get it.
