Downloads problem and User registration problem

I have 2 problems with a new installation of PHP-Nuke.

-=-Notes-=-

Nuke Version: 7.7
MySQL Version: 4.0.24
Server: Apache (Version Unknown)

OK, every time something is added to the downloads section, all the information appears, commaents system works and everything, but when you click the 'Download Now' link, all it does is refresh thae page. The URL is correct, as I've tried and tested it.

-=-Problem 2-=-
When a user creates an account, regardless of whether activation is required for the account or not, the user recieves no notification e-mail and cannot login. As with the memberlist, they do not appear on that either.

Any help would be GREATLY appreaciated here.

What's the URL to your site? I'd like to see a few things before I can honestly answer. Perhaps there was a problem with the installation. I can't tell until I see the site...
