Hey folks, my client has alot of sponsores for his site, and does not want to overlaod the page with ads. If there a way to create a random ad Block?
The ads are in plain HTML, with image references and link URL's only

I figured I may be able to use the scrolling links block and modify it , but I dont think we want them to scroll, would rather the ad refresh with page refresh..

I also thought of trying to mod the random images block but that puls from a folder of images.

Any help would be appreciated.

Where do you intend to store the banners?

Well, thats the part I cant figure. the ad from linkshare is basic HTML, 3 lines of code. So I would need it to pull random code..

Now I use Wordpress on my site and Wordpress has a plugin that is pretty cool.
You add I line of code, a PHP command and it pulls from a .txt file, the only trick is that each line in the .txt file is a seperate ad. so it randomly chooses a line and executes that.. prety cool.. thought I woudl mention that..

If nuke offered something like that it would be cool... prob can be done, but its beyond my skills...

There are a few different ways to go abourt this...

One would be a banner/text rotator script and make it into some blocks

eg different blocks for differnet types of ads

All you need to do is find the rotator script , just google for it...

After that bring it here and create a block in the Nuke Tools Section

then it should be set...

For myself I use
[ Register or login to view links on this board.] which is an open source ad server, Ive just loaded all my banners, ads, etc into it and it gives me code to add to my site.

I take that code and run it through the block maker and there I have my very own Ad Block

Have a read of the Google/Ad Section of the Nuke_HOWTO to get a better idea of how to make blocks, ads etc

Hope this has helped
