I was just wondering what people thought of the ramifications of this. Is it authorized by the GPL / GNU? I know Harvard Law School has moved the site credits to a credits type of page, and I have seen where this has been done several times. I am just wondering if people feel this is allowed by the agreement?

How much "transformation" has to be done to the code before it counts as no longer needing the credits at the bottom of the page? I often wondered this.

I think it is ok to move the credits by the GNU/GPL, a person just isn't allowed to remove them, but I have limited knowledge on the subject. As long as the credit remains, I don't think there is a specific place it has to be.

I know authors get upset when their credits get removed, but are they justified in being upset when the credits remain but are moved? Seriously, what would a web page look like if EVERYONE wanted their credits in the footer?

Any comments?

as long as the copyright remains in some way/shape/form i dont believe it matters...
