I have just installed PHP-Nuke for my site; [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] What I don't understand is that, when I go to "Preferences" and add site title, new logo image, etc. nothing happens after I save changes. It will save the style changes, but nothing else. It still says PHP-Nuke with the PHP-Nuke logo.

What's more, is that I cannot figure out how to get rid of that greeting on the home page that says I should create a new administrator account, which i already have. I have already added the "new" module to the home page, but it shows up under that greeting.

Is there some better new-user documentation, how-to, etc other than the PHP Nuke HOWTO on the phpnuke web site?

thanks.

I figured out how to change the home page message, but I'm still having a problem with all that other stuff aforementioned.

Looks to me like you've figured out everything but the logo. The easiest way to change the logo is to make an image with the same dimensions as the current logo and save it as logo.gif. Upload it to your themes/THEMENAME/images folder. It will overwrite the logo that is currently there. Any other changes, such a a logo of a different size, background images, etc are going to require editing the header code itself.

hello

You can find change delete that welcome block under yoursite.com/admin.php with using Messages button

If you wanna change your site logo you must do it from the theme you use not from the admin/preferences

just right click on the logo and click on properties you ll see this
[ Register or login to view links on this board. ]

its 222 px width 79px height ,so dont go with a bigger one first use same size

so you can put your own logo under
themes/Karate/images/logo.gif

yes best tutorials around is php nuke how to and forums feel free to ask anytime

welcome to codezwiz icon_razz.gif

yes, this is all new to me. PHP-Nuke came with my hosting service, so I didn't even have to instiall it, other than click a link to do so.

Hey, as long as I got you, do you know how to edit a News item once you've already posted it?

what you mean with news item ? image for news ?

it will be good if you post your different questions in different topics so it will help others whom searhing forums for the answers .

suggestions for not have your site hacked easly

1- you must apply the security patches for your php nuke version immediatelly
you can find em from [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] just make sure you download the correct patch ( if your nuke version php nuke 7.6 you must use the patch for 7.6 ) the latest patch version is 3.1 ( if you install it via cpanel/fantastico it will tell you the version of your php nuke) if not you must login to your database via phpmyadmin ,find the table called 'nuke_config' from left panel chose browse from right scroll down and see the version almost at last line.

2-for security reasons you must update your forum version to the latest version ( 2.0.17) you have 2.0.10 you can search, look downloads at [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] for 'bbtonuke217'

3- i highly recommend install the well known security addon 'NukeSentinel' from [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] ( latest version is 2.4.2 )

and yes welcome to php nuke world icon_mrgreen.gif
