To my knowledge, there is no such thing as an Aimer Detector. I've heard rumors that Yahoo! was developing one, but I seriously doubt it.

If you do happen across one, there will be lots of people who would love to get their hands on it. I know I would!

An aiming program is a program which has been developed by some rather unsavory characters to allow people to cheat at Yahoo pool. It guides you in lining up the balls for a sure shot.

An aimer detector is a program that can be used to detect if someone else is using an aiming program. Supposedly.

The only type of so-called aimer detector available is actually a hacking program. The only way that it would be legal to use one of those is to actually have that person's permission to access their computer. One thing I do out of respect for anybody who accuses me of using an aimer is I turn on my webcam and shoot while the cam is pointed at my screen. It removes all doubts and almost always gets an apology from them. Just my thoughts about it.

I can't for the life of me figure out why people feel the need to cheat on yahoo pool, ffs, it's an online game, it serves no serious purpose in life.

I have also heard rumours of people having detectors, but after following up and trying to find one myself, I can only say that I seriousley doubt their existance.

The thing is, to be able to detect if someone is using any type of software on their computer, be it an aiming program or any other type of software, you would have to have access to that person's computer and as far as I know, there's no such program that can detect what software is installed on someone else's computer outside of a network.

You can detect someone's IP address. That's pretty much public knowledge. You can put code into your webpages that allow you to see which browser they are using to view your website and you can even see what kind of operating system they are using. You can put tracking cookies on someone's computer to track their surfing, as long as they have cookies enabled, that is. But, there is no way you can see what software somone has on their computer.

Therefore, I would have to surmise that the rumors floating around about aimer detectors are false!

I did some research to see if they could be detected when in use, and they can't. They run as a client-side application.

The one I tried basically extended the lines to let you see where long shots were going to go, as well as projected paths after hitting the rails.

To my dismay, a very well known geek daily newsletter (gnome names mentioned) recently featured one as a daily download.

It's worth noting that the peeps who use these things never seem to stay around for long.

Although they are not detectable, there are tell tale signs that someone may be using them. I look out for people who make amazing shots, but pay no attention to cueball control, or setting up the next shot(s).

The only good news is that the executable file is full of trojans and dataminers.
